Best Dating Books in 2021

Need some advice from the experts? Instead of paying $$$ on coaching, there are some great dating books out there offering dating and relationship advice for a fraction of the cost.

So if you’re thinking of adding some new self-help books to your home library, here’s a list of the best dating books for women you should add to your bookshelves in 2020:

Why Men Love Bitches

Always a classic, even though it was published in 2002, Why Men Love Bitches by Sherry Argov is an essential read if you need to be reminded not to be a people pleasing doormat. It’s not necessarily about being a bitch, just having strong boundaries that’ll make you oh so attractive to the opposite sex. My friend’s boyfriend read this book and even he said it’s totally accurate.

Quote from the book: “Truly powerful people don’t explain why they want respect. They simply don’t engage someone who doesn’t give it to them.”

Act Like a Lady: Think Like a Man

With Act Like a Lady: Think Like a Man, the author Steve Harvey gives you a good look inside a man’s brain. He provides some thought provoking insight into what men think and why they act the way they do. He recommends a “90-day probation period” before giving a guy sex, which I think is a bit outdated in this day and age, but on the whole, it’s a useful book peppered with humor.

Quote from the book: “You could be the most perfect woman on the Lord’s green earth—you’re capable of interesting conversation, you cook a mean breakfast, you hand out backrubs like sandwiches, you’re independent (which means, to him, that you’re not going to be in his pockets)—but if he’s not ready for a serious relationship, he’s going to treat you like a sports fish.”

The Tao of Dating

The Tao of Dating: The Smart Woman’s Guide to Being Absolutely Irresistible poses the question: how are intelligent women having such unfulfilling love lives? The author Ali Binazir takes inspiration from Taoism and encourages women to embrace their “feminine” in order to attract “masculine”. The book talks about how fulfillment is a feeling, not a person, so if a man isn’t making you feel fulfilled, there is someone else who will.

Quote from the book: “When you chase anything in life, you are affirming its lack in your life.”

Never Chase Men Again

If you’re struggling to find high quality men, pick up a copy of Never Chase Men Again: 38 Dating Secrets To Get The Guy, Keep Him Interested, And Prevent Dead-End Relationships, which shows you how to find, attract and date good guys. Bruce Bryans discusses how having strong personal boundaries will weed out the players and lazy men who have no interest in pursuing. It’s not about playing games or pretending to be hard to get, it’s about being hard to get. Instead of making excuses for guys because of their wealth, attractiveness or status, a woman with strong personal boundaries will stick to her guns.

Quote from the book: “We all have insecurities. It’s only human. But when it comes to dating men, you don’t want to do or say anything that clearly communicates that you don’t believe you’re worth it.”

The Art of Seduction

Art of Seduction is a great book for understanding human nature and psychology. It’s more than a book about seducing someone sexually – this book teaches people how to use seductive techniques to obtain social power in all kinds of circumstances. Art of Seduction examines nine different types of seducers, 18 different types of victims and 24 types of seduction techniques.

Quote from the book: “The key to such power is ambiguity. In a society where the roles everyone plays are obvious, the refusal to conform to any standard will excite interest. Be both masculine and feminine, impudent and charming, subtle and outrageous. Let other people worry about being socially acceptable; those types are a dime a dozen, and you are after a power greater than they can imagine.”

He’s Lying Sis

Have you ever been with a guy and noticed his actions don’t really match his words? In He’s Lying Sis, Stephan Laboissiere exposes some of the games men play to keep you guessing. It’s a short easy read, although it’s worth noting this is Volume 1 in a series.

Quote from the book: “You’re not asking for too much, you’re just asking for the wrong person to give it to you.”

The Game of Desire

Want to play the game of desire and win? The Game of Desire: 5 Surprising Secrets to Dating with Dominance–and Getting What You Want follows a group of six down-on-love daters as they overcome any fears, faults, limiting beliefs and insecurities that have been preventing them from having the relationship they desire. Written by sexologist Shan Boodram, the book takes a look at dating in a modern day world, where the rules of dating have become much more fluid.
